  • ·Rugs, throws, cushions
  • ·Bedside tables, low tables, soft lighting

7m Queen Bell Tent

From £500

Bigger sister to the standard 5m. Seats 20, sleeps 6, with real beds available. The same canvas shape with double the floor area, kitted differently depending on the job.

Large dressed bell tent exterior

Configurations

Pamper

Bridal mornings · hen retreats

Vanity tables, mirrors with light, plug points for hair tongs and dryers, soft lighting, mood music. The bride and bridesmaids get ready together in one space, no hotel-room scramble. Also good for festival hen mornings and retreat-day pamper sessions.

Chill-Out

Festivals · late-night weddings

Beanbags, low seating, rugs, throws, festoon lighting. Guests drift here from the dance floor at midnight; festivalgoers nap between sets. It's where the slow-burn conversations happen.

Cinema

Wedding villages · family festivals

Projector, large screen, beanbags, blankets, popcorn station. Movie afternoons for kids while the adults eat. Late films for the grown-ups once the children are asleep. A standout addition to a 15-tent wedding village.

Kids Play

Family weddings · festivals

Crash mats, soft seating, toys, colouring tables, small chairs. Somewhere for the kids to be without losing them in a field. Keeps the party flowing for the adults and the kids out of the rain.

Custom configurations (hen breakfast, photobooth, gift table, mini-bar) on request. Most bookings land between £500-£700 depending on dressing.

FAQs

Bell tent hire, asked often.

How much does bell tent hire cost?

Three packages: Unfurnished £159, Essentials £180, Luxury £209. Per tent, 48-hour weekend hire, including VAT. Bed frames, bedding, towels and styling are optional add-ons. Bridal tent £375, 7m Queen tent from £500.

How many people does a bell tent sleep?

A 5m bell tent comfortably sleeps up to 4 adults. Two adults can have a king setup with raised single frames pushed together. Families with kids can fit more loosely.

What sort of beds do you provide?

Real raised bed frames available on every tent, not camp beds. Singles can be arranged as a king. Memory foam mattresses and full bedding sets are optional add-ons. Airbeds are an option too if you want to keep things light.

Are bell tents waterproof?

Yes. Heavy-duty cotton canvas with weatherproofed seams and a sewn-in groundsheet. We rig conservatively in exposed venues.

How do guests pay if it's a wedding?

Free guest booking system. Every guest gets a private page to pick and pay for their own tent. You won't run a spreadsheet, chase payments or do any admin. Free for every event, not just weddings.

How many tents can you set up?

Anywhere from 5 to 30 bell tents per van load. Larger jobs are multi-van. Festival jobs scale to 70+ tents with extended crew.

Is there a minimum order?

Minimums scale with distance: under 2 hours, 5 tents; 2-4 hours, 10; 4 hours plus, 15-20.

How much space do bell tents need?

A 5m bell tent occupies roughly 6m × 6m of ground including guy ropes. Reasonably flat ground is ideal. We can advise on layout based on your venue.

Can bell tents be heated?

For shoulder-season events we can advise on safe heating options. Bell tents themselves retain warmth well thanks to thick canvas.

Do you set up and take down?

Yes, included. We set up the day before and take down the day after, so guests don't have to leave until late morning.

How far do you travel?

Based in York/Malton, working nationwide. Delivery cost scales with distance. Send a postcode and date and we'll quote within 24 hours.

How far in advance should I book?

Summer Saturdays book up fast. For weddings 6-18 months out is normal. Festivals 6-12 months. Private events 1-3 months is usually fine.

Can I see the tents in person?

For wedding clients we can sometimes arrange a viewing day. Photos and videos cover most of what people want to see, send any specific question.

What's in the Luxury package?

Rugs, cushions, faux flowers, vanity mirror, welcome pack with eye mask and ear plugs, apple crate table, camping light, doormat. Beds, bedding and towels are optional add-ons on any package.

Bell tents, the basics

More about bell tents.

General questions people ask about bell tents, useful background whether or not you book with us.

How big is a 5m bell tent?

A 5m (16ft) bell tent has roughly 19m² of internal floor space, with headroom around 3m in the centre dropping to 1m at the walls.

How long does it take to set up a bell tent?

A 5m bell tent takes a trained pair around 15-20 minutes to pitch (lay groundsheet, raise centre pole, peg out, dress with optional A-frame door). DIY first-timers should budget 30-45 minutes. Our team sets up the day before so guests just turn up.

What is a bell tent made of?

Most bell tents are heavy-duty cotton canvas (around 285-360gsm), with a sewn-in or zip-in PVC groundsheet. The cotton breathes (no condensation), is naturally weather-resistant, and lasts decades if stored dry. Cheaper bell tents use polyester, lighter and waterproof but they don't breathe and feel plasticky inside.

How do you clean a bell tent?

Brush off mud and debris when dry. Spot-clean with a soft sponge, lukewarm water and a bell-tent-safe cleaner (no detergent, it strips the waterproofing). Never pressure-wash. Let canvas air-dry fully before packing, packing damp causes mildew, the main killer of bell tents.

How long does a bell tent last?

A quality cotton canvas bell tent looked after well lasts 10-15 years of regular use. Sun (UV) and damp storage are the main enemies. Polyester bell tents typically last 3-5 years before fabric breakdown.

What's the difference between a bell tent and a yurt?

Both are circular canvas structures, but yurts have rigid wooden walls and a cross-lattice frame, making them taller, heavier, and harder to put up. Bell tents have one centre pole with canvas hanging in a cone shape. Bell tents are quicker to pitch, more portable, and cheaper. Yurts are more permanent, warmer, and feel more like a building.

What's the difference between a bell tent and a teepee?

Teepees use multiple poles meeting at the top in a tall cone (think Native American). Bell tents have one central pole with the canvas draped around it, giving a shorter, wider profile. Bell tents have more usable interior floor space at adult head height. Teepees look more dramatic outside.

Can you use a bell tent in winter?

Yes, with the right kit. Cotton canvas insulates well, you can fit a wood-burning stove (many models have a stove jack), and a thick bell-tent groundsheet plus camping rug keeps the cold floor at bay. Most UK winter bell-tent users layer up with proper bedding (down duvets, fleece liners). Snow loads are manageable on properly tensioned canvas.

How many bell tents fit on a piece of land?

Each tent's footprint (about 6m × 6m, see above) works out to roughly 25 per acre (4,000m²) without crowding. We typically space at 2-3m apart for privacy, which is 15-20 tents per acre in event setups.

Where are bell tents from originally?

Bell tents trace back to British Army tents from the 19th century, the conical canvas shape was the standard military issue for over a century. Civilians adopted them in the 2000s as part of the glamping boom. The modern bell tent kept the shape and added improvements: heavier canvas, sewn-in groundsheet, proper guying.
